Understand how to work with advisors and relatives. Dealing with conditions of aging, documenting sensitive issues and what never to include. How to easily raise gift planning topics with prospects. Please bring sample marketing materials for quick one-on-one review by the speaker before/after the session.
John W. Jensen, CFP®, is a Sharpe Group Senior Consultant and Senior Vice President based in Washington D.C. He has worked with more than 100 nonprofits to improve their planned giving performance. He regularly conducts Planned Giving Program Audits and Assessments, in addition to a wide range of gift planning consulting services. John works with a broad range of groups, but has a particular specialty with national, membership and direct mail based charities. He also has special expertise in estate planning, gift structuring, real estate, estate administration, insurance and special needs situations. Prior to joining Sharpe Group, John served as vice president for development at both The Nature Conservancy and National Wildlife Federation. He served as the executive director of The Nature Conservancy’s Maine Chapter and the development director of the Maine Audubon Society. He was the founding chairman of Earth Share, served on the Direct Marketing Association Nonprofit Council board and served 4 years in the Maine House of Representatives.

11:15 a.m. Estate Gifts: Getting All You’re Due, John Jensen, Sharpe Group
This presentation will address practical aspects of charitable estate administration, including suggestions for how to get results from reluctant or slow-moving estate administrators and trustees, how to ask questions and initial steps that will help eliminate problems from the start. It will help in deciding which estates to focus on, when you should never allow your CFO to cash a check from the executor and how to spot and handle excessive receipt and release agreements charities are often asked to sign.
